Story Behind the Name
Ali is short for Alison. Ali, in Italiano, means wings (hence the dragonfly wings on my logo). Matteini is the Etruscan’s last name and, technically – but not officially – mine… which, by the way, means ‘little mad.’
Probably quite fitting: Little, mad wings.
My business in Australia was originally registered as Kittykatmandoo. That was a difficult name for Italians to pronounce, and it also stemmed from a time I needed to leave behind. It took so long to relaunch the jewellery making here in Italy (3 years), that I felt the name needed to be something a little more Italian to reflect where I live, and the direction I was about to take with regards to my jewellery and art in the land of the masters.
