Combining her studies in design with her passion for artisan-made products, and with 16 years experience in her craft, Laura Rovida is a weaver extraordinaire.
Starting out as an apprentice in an artisan’s studio, she continued to hone her craft at Looiman Ammatti Institutti A Looima in Finland before obtaining her HNC in Fashion and Textile Design at Bradford College of Art and Design in England.
In addition, thanks to a artisans grant for study from the European Union, she was able to expand on her knowledge and practice in textile design at <<Studio Aphorisma>> in Tuscany.
Her creations draw from the environment and her surroundings, pulling in the threads of colour and texture straight from the Maremma landscape.
In keeping with Laura’s conviction to live as environmentally sustainable as possible – as human and artist – her creations are hand made and eco-sustainable and do not contain heavy metals or carcinogens in the dyes. She sources her wool from local producers of sheep from the Maremma and Amiata regions, supporting local agriculture.

She lives near the medieval town of Manciano and has a workshop and point-of-sale in Capalbio Scalo near Orbetello, which she will be reopening between April and October.
