Last minute marbled blown eggs for Easter.
These are marbled with nail polish. I can’t wear nail polish with flare as there is little point with the work I do in the jewellery studio. Doesn’t stop me from collecting the glorious coloured bottles.

Add a few drops of two contrasting colours to a cup of water, swirl with a toothpick and roll egg into the water to pick up the colour. Repeat process however many times you like. Each one will collect a completely different result.

I don’t think I really need to add this disclaimer…but…Don’t use this method for boiled eggs you intend to eat!
With the marbled paper, I use shaving cream on a perspex board, level it out with a piece of card, add my drops of Indian or China ink, swirl with a stick and lay the paper down to collect the ink before scraping off the excess cream. You can reuse it several times, but the cream will eventually saturate with colour and end up a muddy brown.

I tried this method at first with the blown eggs thinking it would be a a less messy cleanup at the end – and definitely far less fumey – but it was a bit fiddly in the end, with a subtle effect I could get with less hassle by hand-painting them.

Cheers and Ciao,
Ali
